British rapper Dizzee Rascal caused a storm at a music festival in Australia by launching an expletive-laden rant at a journalist during an interview.
The star was performing at the Big Day Out concert in Sydney on Friday (22Jan10) and took part in a series of interviews with local press at the event.
But the Bonkers hitmaker cut one interview short after he took offence at the line of questioning, and shocked the female reporter by swearing at her profusely and later allegedly demanding she delete the footage of the incident.
News.com.au reporter Alison Stephenson asked the star whether he had ever fallen over on stage and he replied: "What the f**k do you want from me man, I've already said I done it. Yeah I stacked it, b**ch. F**k!"
Stephenson claims she was later contacted by the rapper's representatives who asked her to delete footage of the bust-up.
She says, "I wasn’t expecting an apology and didn’t receive one. It just comes with the territory. A publicist came running up to me declaring I had to go back to the media area immediately and my Dizzee Rascal interview had to be deleted. It was about 3.30pm and Dizzee had a whole afternoon of interviews booked in. He was refusing to do any other press that day until I agreed to delete it, including a radio station whose team was going into chaos. They were due to go live with the rapper but he was sitting in his trailer waiting for me to comply.
"I was escorted to Dizzee's trailer so his U.K. manager and publicist could emerge, watch me sign the document and agree to ‘just forget about it and move on.' All I was told was: ‘Dizzee wasn't happy with it’.”
