Country trio the Dixie Chicks are putting their hiatus on hold to record with funnyman and banjo picker Steve Martin.
The Texas trio, which has been on a break since 2007, will record a new tune for Martin's follow-up to his Grammy Award-winning 2009 bluegrass album, The Crow: New Songs For the 5-String Banjo.
But sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, who have formed Court Yard Hounds to keep them busy while singer Natalie Maines focuses on family, are unsure whether the recording session will kickstart the Dixie Chicks.
Robison tells Billboard.com, "We just kind of (take) one thing at a time as far as opportunities from the outside. I think we're excited to start writing again and getting new songs for whatever project they happen to be for.
"We had a lot of fun in June playing with the Eagles, so I would dare say that in the next nine months we'll be doing something, one way or another."
