Veteran German rockers Die Toten Hosen were the toast of the country's Echo Awards on Thursday night (21Mar13), scooping four top honours including the best album prize.

The five-piece won Album of the Year for Ballast der Republik and also took home trophies for Best National Rock Band, Hit of the Year for their song Tage wie diese, and Production Team of the Year with co-producer Vincent Sorg.

New York-born singer Lana Del Rey was another big winner at the ceremony in Berlin, Germany, where she was named Best International Rock/Pop Female and Best International Newcomer.

British pop star Robbie Williams saw off competition from Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker and Mark Knopfler to be named as the surprise winner of the International Rock/Pop Male award, and Mumford & Sons scooped Best International Rock/Pop Band.

The award for Best International Rock/Alternative Band went to Linkin Park, and Led Zeppelin were presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

German stars David Garrett and Ivy Quainoo took home the national awards for Best Female and Best Male.
