The veteran Hollywood publicist and awards show consultant passed away on Monday (29Dec15) at his home in Los Angeles, according to Variety.com.

Weissman began his career as a publicity executive with ABC and CBS television networks and also spent 10 years as chief of the motion picture publicity department for Universal Pictures.

In 1981, he founded his own marketing and publicity company and went on to form Weissman/Markovitz Communications with his son-in-law Rick Markovitz in 2006. Weissman worked on campaigns for TV shows and movies including Transparent, American Horror Story, Breaking Bad and The Big Short.

His past campaigns and clients have included Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Judy Garland, Red Skelton and The Twilight Zone.
