The Parent Trap star, who played an astronaut in the movie, hated flying on planes when he signed up for the project, and had to overcome his fear by learning to pilot jets.

"The great thing about what I do is you get to go in all these doors that say 'Authorised personnel only' and you get to enter into a world for several months that you never get a chance to do in your life," he told U.S. chat show The Talk on Monday (30Jan17).

"So when I got the role playing an astronaut in The Right Stuff I was afraid to fly, but I thought I should learn just to be able to talk on the radio, so I got my pilot's license and now I fly jets."
