Veteran actor Dennis Hopper is terrified of playing Frank Sinatra in upcoming movie THE NIGHT WE CALLED IT A DAY - despite having been pals with the late star.

Hopper, 69, is studying the crooner's actions and expressions from archive footage, as he is determined to do his old friend justice on screen.

He says, "I knew Sinatra so it's very scary for me.

"I remember sitting looking at a tape and saying, 'Not only can't I play this part, I can't even walk like Sinatra."
