Denise Van Outen has got the Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack housemates talking about musicals as she takes control on the E4 show.

The former Big Breakfast presenter and Chicago star quickly turned conversation in the house to the West End after beginning her hijacking stint.

While most of the contestants shared memories of their favourite musicals, conceptual artist Amy Jackson claimed to have "never seen" a West End show.

The Oxford graduate soon realised her mistake as her fellow housemates reeled off a list of West End shows, with Amy admitting to have seen "about 20 minutes of The Sound Of Music and a local production of Guys and Dolls".

Amy then asked Denise to list her favourite musicals, with Van Outen's stint as a judge on Any Dream Will Do - and her budding romance with Lee Mead - clearly playing a part.

"I like Starlight Express and I love Chicago," Denise replied. "It's a brilliant show, and at Christmas I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat."

The conversation was a precursor to more important matters however, as Denise later told the housemates to prepare themselves for a musical-themed task.

"I will be summoning groups of housemates to the diary room, where they will be given musical characteristics, then I'm going to choose my three favourite housemates," she explained.

The victorious housemates would be rewarded with "a luxury hamper full of the most pampering things".

Classical musician Calista Robertson and fashion designer Jay Wilson were then called to the diary room only to emerge speaking in song.

"The banana is so tasty, it's a party in my mouth," Jay sang, with Calista adding tunefully: "And everyone's invited."

The burgeoning relationship between Anthony Ogogo and Calista was again a popular topic of conversation for the housemates with John Loughton telling Anthony it is important for him to be straight with Calista about the nature of their friendship.
