Brave singer and actress Delta Goodrem has taken a break from cancer treatment to collect four gongs at a music award show in her native Australia.

The 18-year-old soap star made her first public appearance since announcing she was suffering from Hodgkin's disease last month (JUL03) at the ARIA NUMBER ONE AWARDS CEREMONY in Sydney on Thursday (30JUL03), where she collected four awards for her debut album INNOCENT EYES.

A teary eyed Goodrem told the audience, "I'm feeling really positive. I will be having chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the next four or five months.

"There are going to be good days and bad days, but on the good days I'll do what I love to do and I'm really happy I could get here today."

Goodrem also vowed to return to her showbiz career whilst she battles cancer, adding, "I just have to get through it and be back here again next year (04)."
