Deep Purple star Roger Glover has been named an honorary fellow of the University of South Wales.
The rocker was presented with the accolade in recognition of his contribution to music and the creative industries.
Glover, who was born in Brecon, Wales, revealed his own 'university education' was gained through his early years in music and wished this year's (15) graduates luck in their future.
As he accepted the award he said, "My version of university was gaining experience performing with Episode Six, the band I formed during my teens. It is fantastic to see so many graduates realising their potential and gaining degrees from the university today. I wish them every success in their future careers."
Professor Julie Lydon, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Wales, added, "We are delighted to honour Roger in recognition of his great musical achievements."
