Former MONKEES star Davy Jones has been forced to pull out of his British tour due to a lack of ticket sales.
The 58-year-old actor/singer, who featured in the hit 60s American boy band, was due to kick off his tour last Wednesday (24MAR04) at the FAIRFIELD HALLS Croydon in south England after completing an eight-day residency on the luxury liner QE2 (Queen Elizabeth II).
A spokeswoman for Davy says, "Due to the fact the English tour plans were booked sometime after the QE2 engagement, we feel that David's farewell tour of England could not be promoted satisfactory without even a written understanding or promotional budget."
Ticket sales had been slow with one provincial venue reporting only a quarter of tickets being sold.
The spokesperson continued, "Sales for the larger venues were pretty reasonable and promotion in the media would have doubled them.
Davy who is "currently on a boat in the Caribbean" hopes to return to England later in the year (04).26/03/2004 14:15
