British Tv presenter Davina Mccall wept with fear on Monday (10Feb14) after she suffered suspected hypothermia and had to be rescued from the water during a charity swim.
The former Big Brother host was attempting a 1.5-mile (2.4 kilometre) swim across Lake Windermere in north England as part of the Sport Relief fundraising challenge when the drama happened.
MCCall, who admitted before the stunt that she was terrified of plunging into the icy lake, bravely completed the feat but had to be dragged from the water after clinging to a raft with a pained look on her face at the finish line.
Once onshore, MCCall was carried sobbing to a nearby hotel where she was wrapped in blankets and given a mug of hot chocolate as medical teams tried to raise her body temperature amid fears she was suffering hypothermia.
She appeared to have recovered later in the day when she took to Twitter.com to reassure her fans, writing, "I'm ok. That was hairy. Thank you for all your support."
MCCall is taking part in the seven-day BT Sport Relief Challenge: Davina - Beyond Breaking Point, during which she will attempt to run, swim and cycle more than 500 miles (804 kilometres) from Edinburgh in Scotland to London.
