The set of David Walliams' new Agatha Christie Tv adaptation was evacuated on Sunday (23Nov14) after smoke machines set off fire alarms in nearby buildings.

The comedian is taking on a dramatic role in the new small screen version of Christie's thriller Partners In Crime alongside Call The Midwife star Jessica Raine, and they have been filming the period drama in central London.

However, production on the set near Chancery Lane came to a halt on Sunday when a series of fire alarms were set off by the crew's smoke machines. The cast and crew were evacuated and had to wait outside in the rain while teams of firefighters raced to the scene.

In Wenn's pictures, Walliams is seen standing on the street wearing his tuxedo costume and clutching an umbrella while firefighters work to secure the scene.

Castmembers wearing period dress were pictured ducking into a prop vintage bus outside the filming location to keep warm and dry while they waited for the all clear to return to the building.
