Actor David Hasselhoff will perform at a New Year's Eve concert in Berlin, Germany at the iconic spot where he famously sang for freedom.

The Baywatch star has been connected to the historic landmark since he sang his peace anthem Looking For Freedom on top of the wall, a year before officials allowed East Germans back into the west of the country in 1989.

Last month (Nov14), he returned to the city to speak at a peace conference to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the end of the famous landmark, and now he has announced he will be ringing in the New Year at the site.

Other stars who will be counting down to 2015 at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate include classical singer Katherine Jenkins, former Communards star Jimmy Somerville, and German rockers Tokio Hotel.

The Berlin Wall was built to divide the city in the aftermath of World War Ii. It was opened up in 1989 and was demolished a year later (90).
