India's Top Officials Have Warned Dance Festival Promoters Not To Seek Permission For Gigs Next Christmas (16) - Because They Won't Be Handing Them Out.
Festivals Sunburn and Supersonic have kicked off in Goa, with acts like David Guetta and Disclosure, but event bosses won't be able to schedule the shows for 2016.
Both festivals were threatened by terrorists earlier this month (Dec15), prompting promoters to increase security.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar tells The India Times newspaper, "I called both the organisers - Sunburn's Percept Ltd and Supersonic's Viacom 18 - and told them that this would not be tolerated. The dates of both the events should not clash and they should be conducted before 15 December or after 15 January.
According to the publication, the government's decision results from the anticipation of unmanageable tourist and security conditions during the holiday season.
