British singer David Gray knocked fellow singer/songwriter James Blunt off the top of the UK album chart, while Pussycat Dolls dug their claws in to stay at number one on the singles chart.

Babylon hitmaker Gray secured his third successive number one album when his seventh LP LIFE IN SLOW MOTION pushed Blunt's Back To Bedlam down to number two - and Sir Paul McCartney's 20th solo album CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD only managed to make number 10.

KT Tunstall's EYE TO THE TELESCOPE rose to number three while Coldplay's X+Y and Late Registration by Kanye West made up the top five.

Ragga star Sean Paul made the highest entry on the singles chart with WE BE BURNIN' grabbing second spot - but he was unable to relinquish LA the Pussycat Dolls' grip on the top spot.
