The veteran music mogul announced his four-year marriage to former model Yolanda Foster was over earlier this month (Dec15), and rumours subsequently surfaced alleging David had been questioning his wife's health struggle, which was diagnosed in 2012.

However, David, 66, insists there is no truth to the tabloid reports and he couldn't be more proud of how brave Yolanda has been throughout her personal battle.

"Over the past few weeks, a great deal of inaccurate or baseless information has been reported claiming to represent my thoughts and feelings," David writes in a statement issued to "It is painful to watch this happen repeatedly - especially while trying to cope with the personal nature of the challenges surrounding the breakup of our loving marriage."

The speculation surrounding Yolanda's condition was fuelled during last week's (ends18Dec15) episode of her reality show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, during which castmate Taylor Armstrong seemingly cast doubt on whether her 51-year-old co-star had been faking her illness all along.

"I have always had and continue to have the utmost respect and love for Yolanda, which is why it is so frustrating to see headlines questioning her chronic debilitating illness," David continues. "I have been by Yolanda's side over the past four years to the best of my ability as she battled with the complexities of her Lyme diagnosis.

"I am incredibly proud of Yolanda's determination and mission to find a cure, and how brave and open she has been by sharing her story in the hopes of changing the future for others."

David's statement supporting his ex comes days after Yolanda took to her own blog to defend herself against Taylor's cruel comments after The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills aired.

"Those of you who have experienced chronic illness, you know what I'm talking about," she wrote. "What defines suffering? You will never hear someone who's walked in my shoes speak the way Taylor spoke on tonight's episode. I truly hope she never has to experience the journey she questions me for sharing."
