A teaser trailer for David Fincher's Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has finally hit the web - exciting fans of the original STIEG LARSSON novel with its high paced intensity. Some critics had dismissed the idea of Fincher's movie - questioning its necessity - although the trailer created a wave of anticipation and optimism following its release this week.

Following a short clip without dialogue that leaked earlier this year, the official three-and-a-half minute trailer is the first extended look at the movie, featuring Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as hacker Lisbeth Salander. Mara in particular has wowed fans of the original movie with her portrayal of the mysterious Salander. While appearing almost unrecognisable in the role, the American actress also delivers a convincing Scandinavian accent. In reaction to the trailer, The UK's Guardian newspaper noted, "Fincher's movie already looks far more engaging than the original Swedish take on the late Stieg Larsson's debut Millennium novel. Most importantly, it has the air of a genuine thriller". The Hollywood Reporter said Mara had got the role of Lisbeth "spot on". The official trailer features music by 'The Social Network' composer and Nine Inch Nails star Trent Reznor.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is released in U.S. cinemas on the 21st December 2011, with a UK release following five days later.
