David Duchovny and Tea Leoni's teenage daughter helped to raise millions for the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) by donating a total of $47,000 (£29,375) at the organisation's annual Snowflake Ball in New York City on Tuesday (02Dec14).

Madelaine Duchovny turned heads when she established herself as one of the night's big spenders, first placing a winning bid of $17,000 (£10,625) for courtside tickets to an upcoming New York Knicks basketball game against the Dallas Mavericks.

The 15 year old, who sat separately from her actress mum at the Cipriani Wall Street charity event, reveals the prize was a treat for her whole family, telling the New York Post, "I love the Knicks. My whole family loves the Knicks, so it was kind of obvious that we needed those tickets."

She then offered up $30,000 (£18,750), with the encouragement of her mother, to help pay for a Unicef truck for charity missions.

Her generosity helped organisers raise $3.3 million (£2.06 million) for Unicef.
