Seventies pop star David Cassidy has had his felony drink driving charge reduced to a misdemeanour Dwi (Driving While Intoxicated) after striking a plea deal with prosecutors.

The former Partridge Family actor was in a Schodack, New York court on Wednesday (03Sep14), where he pleaded guilty to drink driving in the same town last summer (13).

Under the terms of the plea deal, Cassidy must complete 50 hours of community service and also install an ignition interlock on his vehicle's dashboard, a breathalyzer device which tests the driver's blood alcohol level before the car's motor can be started.

Cassidy will also face a judge in November (14) to check on his progress and determine if he needs to complete an alcohol treatment program, since the singer already voluntarily checked himself into a rehab centre and completed the course in Florida earlier this year (14).
