David Bowie's wife Iman has had to take over nannying duties with the couple's daughter ALEXANDRIA ZAHRA while they holiday in the West Indies - after her regular babysitter was refused entry to Barbados due to work permit problems.

Mum and daughter flew to Barbados on Monday (16FEB03) for a five-day vacation, while Bowie tours America promoting his latest album REALITY.

But their winter break got off to an awkward start - three-year-old Alexandria's nanny was refused entry to the country.

A source says, "Iman and her daughter arrived with the nanny but her visa wasn't in order and she wasn't allowed to come to Barbados. Iman hasn't let that ruin the trip. She's a very happy hands-on mum."
