David Bowie once turned down the sexual advances of late Hollywood star Loretta Young after she underwent cosmetic surgery in a bid to impress the rocker.

In her new book Bowie: The Biography, author Wendy Leigh claims Young, who was in her 60s at the time, encouraged pal Elizabeth Taylor to set up a meeting between her and Bowie.

But when Young finally met the rocker in the late 1970s she allegedly came on too strong.

In an extract from her book in Page Six, Leigh, who has also written biographies of Grace Kelly, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Patrick Swayze, reports Taylor as telling friends, "Loretta was very aggressive and said him (Bowie), 'I’ve gone to a lot of trouble to meet you tonight'."

Bowie reportedly shot back, "You shouldn’t have gone to the trouble my dear. I only like black women and Asian men.”
