LATEST: American illusionist David Blaine is confident his New York fans will support his next stunt - living underwater for seven days. The 33-year-old magician, who endured heckling by London crowds while he spent 44 days fasting in a glass box suspended over the River Thames, is hopeful his native followers will be kinder. The underwater stunt begins on 1 May (06), when Blaine will enter a water-filled sphere and remain submerged for a week. Blaine's spokesman PAT SMITH says, "Anytime he's done anything in New York, the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. "New Yorkers are cool about this kind of thing." Blaine endured 62 hours in a sealed ice block in New York's Times Square in 2003.
