American illusionist David Blaine has had his first proper meal since he began his starvation stunt ABOVE THE BELOW - after tucking into a handful of crisps.
Blaine had been suspended in a Perspex box above London's River Thames for 44 days before he emerged on Sunday (20OCT03) and doctors had warned that reintroducing him to food could kill him.
But medical staff were glad to confirm yesterday (23OCT03), "David Blaine broke his fast last night with a small handful of potato crisps."
And Blaine himself thanked fans who have been sending messages of support and good will via a statement.
He said, "I have enjoyed this quiet time to reflect upon my experience during my recovery."24/10/2003 01:44
