David Beckham has to skip a glamorous Hollywood event with Britain's Duke & Duchess Of Cambridge because he has an important soccer game the following day.
The sportsman, who lives in Los Angeles, was invited to attend Prince William's wedding to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in April (11) and he made a special trip back to his native U.K. to attend the ceremony.
He has been invited to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' (BAFTA) Brits to Watch event in L.A. on Saturday (09Jul11) which will be attended by Bafta president Prince William and his new wife as part of their ongoing North American tour.
But Beckham is not allowed to attend, because he is on duty with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team the next day (10Jul11).
He tells E! Online, "I know they have an event that we were meant to go to but I have a game (the) night after so I'm not really allowed at events the night before a game."
However, the soccer star still hopes to greet the royal couple during its time in L.A., adding, "Hopefully, we get to see them even if it's for five minutes to say hello. Obviously we're friends and they're such an amazing couple and for them to be coming over to America, it's such a big and special thing, because the royal family is adored over here."
