David Beckham still cringes about the time he and wife Victoria wore matching leather outfits.
Looking back on some of his style choices, David, 36, admits it was a low point.
He said: ''Me and Victoria wore matching black leather outfits once. They were Versace. But that's one when I look back and am like, 'What were we thinking?'
''We laugh about that one. I remember that it's really good until you do it as a couple.''
The father-of-four has never been shy of making a statement, having even once worn a sarong for a night out.
He said: ''I look back on some stuff and think I can't believe I actually wore that. I have no regrets, though - I knew at the time it was good.
But he insists his choices have nothing to do with his 37-year-old fashion designer wife.
Talking to H&M Life magazine, he explained: ''I was [once] a pageboy and had a choice between wearing some boring old suit or a pair of knickerbockers with ballerina tights and slippers.
''So I went with the tights. It's not that I always wanted to be different, but I knew what I liked.''
