England international David Beckham has been named as the godfather to pal DAVE GARDNER's new baby son.
Gardner and actress wife DAVINIA TAYLOR have also asked supermodel Kate Moss, a close friend of the ex-HOLLYOAKS stunner, to be the godmother.
Beckham and Gardner have been close friends since they played together at Manchester United, with Becks acting as joint best man with PHIL NEVILLE at Gardner's wedding last summer.
And Beckham, who has flown into the UK with wife Victoria as she prepares to promote the Spice Girls reunion today, is set to meet the newborn baby Grey on Sunday.
A source told the Sun: "Davinia had a straightforward labour and is in great spirits. She was upbeat all the way through and Dave was at her side holding her hand."
They added that Moss "paid a visit to the hospital yesterday afternoon" as she was "desperate" to see Davinia. The fiancé of shambolic rocker Pete Doherty was said to be "absolutely delighted" about being a godmother.
However, it s thought the christening will make an interesting occasion if unkempt Pete meets up with clean-cut Becks and family.
