Dave Grohl formed rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures by inviting Josh Homme and JOHN PAUL JONES to join him on a "blind date" at a medieval banquet.
The Foo Fighters frontman invited Queens Of The Stone Age singer Homme and Led Zeppelin's Jones to his birthday party at U.S. restaurant Medieval Times to see if the trio would get along.
And veteran rocker Jones admits they took a liking to one another as they watched knights joust in the 11th-century themed establishment.
He tells Britain's NME magazine, "It was weird, the blind date, but I was aware of Josh's music, obviously - I couldn't imagine it not working."
Homme adds, "What was good about Medieval Times was that there was no risk of pretension. It broke the ice. With a lance."
