The Pantera legend was shot and killed by a crazed fan at a show in Ohio on 8 December, 2004 and his surviving bandmates and famous friends have gathered for the so-called Dimebash event in Los Angeles each year to honour his memory.

Guests at this year's (16) get-together also had another heavy rocker, Lemmy, in their thoughts, following his unexpected death in December (15), and Foo Fighters star Grohl decided to pay tribute to the late Brit with a cover of Motorhead classic Ace of Spades.

Jumping on guitar, he joined forces with Pantera's former frontman Phil Anselmo on vocals, Metallica's Robert Trujillo on bass, and ex-Slayer percussionist Dave Lombardo on drums.

Grohl also stepped in to play with reunited Pantera stars Rex Brown and Anselmo and MAChine Head's Robb Flynn for Walk, after Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell had to pull out of the event due to an undisclosed emergency medical issue.
