Darwin Deez has today premiered the Unicorn Kid remix of his new single "Free" on Pitchfork. Stream the remix from the link at the bottom of the page
Edinburgh's Unicorn Kid has taken the track and moulded Darwin's free spirit into a miraculously infectious jump-up pop anthem, with insanely catchy riffs, a gloriously melodic treatment of Darwin's vocal, and hyper-speed bouncy beats to match.
"Free" is but the first, scintillating, teaser from Darwin's forthcoming sophomore album Songs For Imaginative People, which is to be released February 11 on Lucky Number. The record sees Darwin pushing his idiosyncratic pop talents to heretofore-unexplored territory, with the result being his most sonically ambitious and deliriously melodic album yet. Make sure not to miss him when he plays live dates in the UK in February.
Please also check Ninian Doff's innovative video for "Free (The Editorial Me)", a creative play on "Groundhog Day", which casts Darwin as a cashier stuck in a time loop.
