Country star Darius Rucker was the guest of honour at the University of South Carolina on Saturday (11May13) as he was presented with an honorary degree.
The singer was made a doctor of music at his alma mater and he took to the stage to deliver a commencement address urging graduates to work hard to achieve their ambitions, according to Greenvilleonline.com.
He declared, "I want you to take time, take some real time... Find something that makes you want to give 'til it hurts. (Be people) who are not afraid to chase their dreams. All my dreams started to come true right here."
Rucker has a lot to thank the university for - he met his former Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates at the establishment in the 1980s.
