Oscar-winning British filmmaker Danny Boyle is in talks to direct the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
According to reports, the Slumdog Millionaire director is the top candidate to oversee the production, which will officially kick off the international summer sporting event in Stratford, east London.
More than 80,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will be viewed by billions more around the globe.
A source tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "We want the most imaginative ceremony the world has ever seen. Nothing has been signed yet, but we do fully expect him to do it."
