British director Danny Boyle has won the top honour at the Toronto Film Festival for his new movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.
Boyle was presented with the coveted Cadillac People's Choice Award, voted for by film fans, on Saturday (13Sep08). The prize is generally considered an indicator of possible success at the Oscars.
Previous winners of the Canadian gong include David Cronenberg's London gangster film Eastern Promises, Tsotsi and Hotel Rwanda.
