X Factor contestant Rachel Hylton has sacked her mentor Dannii Minogue and plans to work alone for the rest of the series, reports claim.
The mother-of-five was voted into the bottom two on Saturday night's episode and is reportedly unhappy with Minogue's song selection.
Rachel was one of the early favourites to win the fifth series of the ITV1 talent show with judges marvelling at her powerful voice and moved by her troubled background.
The 26-year-old gave birth to the first of her five children at 13 before drug problems led to a spell in prison and three of her children being taken into care.
But despite her compelling story, Rachel was left in the bottom two on Saturday night, allegedly causing a row between her and Minogue.
"There have been some differences of opinion between acts and judges before, but not on this level," a source told the Mirror newspaper.
"There is a total breakdown in communication between the two girls with Rachel ultimately feeling that Dannii is failing her."
The tabloid claims the pair held a crisis meeting after Rachel's underwhelming performance on last weekend's show, in which the contestants sang disco songs.
"It has been bubbling under for weeks, ever since Dannii gave her the Robyn track With Every Heartbeat to sing which didn't really complement her amazing voice," the source claimed.
"But it was the final straw when she ended up in the bottom two. She demanded Dannii had to go."
An X Factor spokesperson recently admitted there have been "problems" with Rachel and Minogue.
