British actor Daniel Craig only took his role in action flick Lara Croft: Tomb Raider because he needed the money.

Craig, who was propelled to fame after starring in a string of hit movies such as The Jacket, Layer Cake and Road To Perdition, was still battling for recognition when the 2001 film was released.

He says, "At the time I was sick and tired of being an English actor who did a lot of American movies because I was cheap and good."
