The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor Dane DeHaan is leading tributes to Broadway dancer/choreographer Donald Saddler following his death on Saturday (01Nov14).

Saddler passed away at an assisted-living residence for retired actors in New Jersey, aged 96.

He had dancing and choreography credits in theatre, opera, Tv and movies stretching back to the 1930s, and during his Broadway career, he earned four Tony Award nominations as a choreographer, winning two prizes for musicals Wonderful Town and No, No, Nanette in 1953 and 1971, respectively.

DeHaan penned a tribute to Saddler on Twitter.com on Wednesday (05Nov14), writing, "Honoured to have met this giving, talented, classy man," while his wife, Tv actress Anna Wood, added, "Weve (sic) lost another great light. Thank you for everything, Donald Sadler (sic). You will always be my favourite (restaurant) Sardi's date."

Other tributes were posted by Broadway actress Melissa Errico, who wrote, "Rip my angel Donald Saddler", while actor Ed Dixon, who worked with Saddler in No, No, Nanette, added, "A piece of history died today. Donald saddler, the choreographer of No, No, Nanette and a dozen other broadway shows has gone to dance with (late stars) Ruby Keeler and Busby Berkeley. He was a lovely person and a true gentleman."
