ABC's Dancing With The Stars returned for its 12 season Monday night, attracting an impressive 22.27 million viewers for the two-hour opener, down 8 percent from the 24.19 million viewers who tuned in to the 2010 season premiere. The big lead-in also boosted ratings for ABC's castle, which won the 10 00 p.m. hour with 12.70 million viewers. Hit hard by the ABC dance contest was the comedy lineup on CBS, which ordinarily reigns supreme on Monday night among total adults. And Fox, which generally lands the younger viewers on Monday -- particularly with House -- also saw its numbers fade. NBC, already and also-ran on Mondays, fell further behind, with only Harry's Law at 10 00 p.m. pulling decent ratings (8.21 million viewers) -- but even that show's numbers were down significantly from previous weeks.
