British rocker Damon Albarn is writing a family-friendly stage show.
The Blur star has previously worked on two experimental operas, Monkey: Journey to the West and Dr Dee, which debuted in Manchester, England in 2007 and 2011, respectively.
However, he is now going more "mainstream" for his latest stage project.
He tells Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "It's funny for me to say, 'I'm writing a musical', but yes, that's what I'm doing next. It's something that I've always wanted to do because musicals are great when they're done well... It started out with the same subject matter, but was going to be left field, experimental opera. But it's lurched into a mainstream musical for families. I'm trying to summon up the spirit of (Oliver! composer) Lionel Bart."
