Daft Punk's new single 'Get Lucky' has broken the record for most streams in a day.

The French dance duo's latest track, featuring singer and producer Pharrell Williams, has already become the most listened to song on website Spotify after its release in the UK and US on Friday (19.04.13).

Band members Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo, who dress as robots in public, also topped the iTunes chart and scored number three in the UK Top 40 Singles chart - which is purely based on physical sales and legal downloads - so it is thought the single would have come higher if other methods were counted.

The popular song is taken from their upcoming album 'Random Access Memories', their first record following their 2005 LP, 'Human After All'.

Will Hope, director of label relations at Spotify, has great hopes for their next album and believes it will dominate their music app when it is released on May 20.

He said: ''There was never any doubt that the first original single from Daft Punk in years was going to be one of the biggest debut singles of 2013.''

The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas and Nile Rogers from Chic will also feature on the eagerly anticipated album.
