Reclusive soul star D'angelo headlined a live concert in New York on Monday night (04Mar13) after joining The Roots drummer ?Uestlove onstage at a special event.

The Brown Sugar hitmaker, who returned to the spotlight last year (12) after a lengthy hiatus, was the surprise guest at The Soulquarians: Brothers in Arms show at Brooklyn Bowl, where Ahmir '?uestlove' Thompson has a weekly Dj gig, and they thrilled the sold-out crowd by performing tracks like The Root, It's Alright and Africa, and covering songs by Prince, Bobby Womack, Sly & the Family Stone and the S.O.S. Band.

D'Angelo and ?uestlove had more than a few famous fans in the audience - the star-studded crowd included Sean Lennon, actress Maya Rudolph and jazz musician Robert Glasper.
