The Hole frontwoman has signed on for a recurring role, playing a mysterious woman in the woods in A Midsummer's Nightmare, a modern-day reimagining of William Shakespeare's classic play which will explore the darker side of love.

The hour-long scripted pilot started production on 31 October (16) in Vancouver, Canada and will air on U.S. network Lifetime, according to

The psychological thriller introduces four young lovers whose romantic plans are thwarted by scary forces in the deep woods who use the group's secrets against them. Courtney plays one of these sinister forces who turns their romantic escape into a nightmare.

The first season of the anthology series also stars Lost actor Dominic Monaghan, American Odyssey's Jake Robinson and Daisy Head, the daughter of Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Anthony Head.

The rocker, who starred in 1996 movie The People vs. Larry Flynt, is no stranger to TV, and has had recurring or guest roles in Sons of Anarchy, Empire, and Revenge.
