American country star Cory Morrow has been charged with driving while intoxicated and drug possession after being stopped by police in his native Austin, Texas.

Morrow, 32, was pulled over by cops after failing to signal a turn early on Saturday morning (15JAN05).

He failed a sobriety test after officers smelled alcohol on his breath. Cops then found a small plastic bag containing cocaine in his car.

Morrow was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony with a maximum penalty of two years in state jail. He also was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanour that carries a jail term of up to 180 days. He was released from jail on $4,000 (GBP2,100) bail.
