Clips of Monteith in character as high school student Finn Hudson were played at the start of the re-run on Tv network Fox.
The simple video ended with the message "Cory Monteith Forever in our hearts".
Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have announced the third episode of the new season, which is scheduled to start next month (Sep13), will serve as a tribute to Monteith and his beloved character. The storyline will also address the actor's drug addiction troubles.
Meanwhile, the family environment on the Glee set is helping the cast and crew cope as they return to work following Monteith's death in Vancouver, Canada, last month (Jul13), according to co-star Matthew Morrison.
He says, "I guess the good thing when something like this happens... we are such a family, we all came together. I remember when it happened, I was up till 5am just talking to every single cast member. We all just reached out to each other and it was a bonding time, but it was incredibly hard. It is incredibly hard."
The cast returned to the set on Thursday (01Aug13) for the first time since Monteith's passing. His real-life partner Lea Michele, who also plays his love interest on the show, updated fans on how happy she was to be back.
She tweeted, "First day of Glee today.. And at my first wardrobe fitting for Rachel Berry for Season Five! I've missed her so much."
And another co-star, Darren Criss, has broken his silence about Monteith's death, calling the late actor a "dear friend" and "a joy" to work with.
Appearing on Thursday night's (01Aug13) Conan show in America, Criss added, "He was a really funny guy (with) a great sense of humour. He loved life and always took care of his friends and wanted his friends to be happy. So it's only right that we try and start to smile again, start to laugh again, cause that's something he would've wanted.
"On a personal note, he'll be severely missed, but I'm just so happy that a guy like him got to touch as many lives as he did while we were all lucky enough to have him."
