Rapper Coolio has escaped arrest after turning up for a court hearing on Tuesday (06Apr10) - a day after a Los Angeles judge issued a bench warrant to have him detained.
The Gangsta's Paradise hitmaker was due in court on Monday (05Apr10) for a probation progress hearing, stemming from his guilty plea for possession of a controlled substance last year (09).
But Coolio's lawyer arrived alone, telling the judge he had no idea of his client's whereabouts. A warrant for the star's arrest was immediately issued.
However, after showing up for the hearing on Tuesday, Coolio - real name Artis Leon Ivey, Jr. - escaped further action by proving he had adhered to the terms of his probation, including a drug rehab program, according to TMZ.com.
The hip-hop star is due back in court on 18 January 2011 for his next progress report.
