Actress Connie Britton showed her support for the New York victims of superstorm Sandy on Monday (03Dec12) by handing out care packages to those in need.

The American Horror Story star spent two years training for her craft in the Big Apple and she was horrified by the damage inflicted by the post-tropical cyclone when it hit America's East Coast in late October (12), so she decided to team up with the Direct Relief International charity to do her part to help.

During the visit to the Ryan/Chelsea Clinton Community Health Center, Britton passed out much-needed supplies to locals struggling to return to normalcy and chatted with residents grateful for her efforts.

She tells ABC News, "It was really scary to think of the impact of a disaster like that. I felt this really strange sense of being disconnected at a time where I really wanted to be able to help in some way... It feels to me that we're still a community that needs help."
