British actor Colin Salmon wants to become the first ever "hip-hop" James Bond.

The black star, who played MI6 aide CHARLES ROBINSON in the last two Bond movies, was this week (ends3DEC04) revealed to be the bookmakers favourite to take over from departing 007 Pierce Brosnan in the next superspy adventure.

Salmon has refused to confirm he has been offered the role, but admits he would jump at the chance - and has his own ideas about taking the suave secret agent into the 21st century.

Salmon says, "Cut to 2004 - what culture has that James Bond alter-ego?

"A misogynist, fast car driving, womanising thing. It is hip-hop."
