The Turning Trailer

In 2005, Australian author Tim Winton collected a series of 17 short stories and published them under the title 'The Turning'. The stories revolve around the character Vic Lang (Dougie Baldwin, Richard Roxburgh, Josh McConville, Casey Douglas and Dan Wyllie), with themes involving companionship, sentimentality and drug abuse. The book received multiple awards for the stories, and went on to become a part of the Western Australian English curriculum in schools. In 2013, the book was turned into a movie, nominated for numerous awards at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.

Darkman Review

Good
One of the lamer superheroes in comic book and movie history, Darkman is formed from massive burns over 40 percent of his body, his home-made synthetic skin which degrades after exposure to light, and an inability to feel pain. After girlfriend Frances McDormand nearly gets our scientist friend (Liam Neeson) killed, he goes all vigilante on the bad bad drug dealers in town. While Darkman has become something of a cult classic, it's also something of a dud. "Darkman" himself isn't very interesting as a hero, as a person, or as a movie. Director Sam Raimi is obviously just getting ready for his superior work in Spider-Man here.

Cosi Review

Good
Cute but predictable, Cosi revolves around the cute-but-predictable premise of a group of insane asylum inmates who put on a rendition of the opera Cosi fan Tutte despite having no acting or singing ability whatsoever (not to mention a lack of sanity). Highlights include the always-on Collette, Barry Otto (channelling Geoffrey Rush), and Ben Mendelsohn (channelling Noah Taylor). Odd, yet cute and, you know, predictable.
