Coldplay's bid to take revenge on the Crazy Frog ringtone in their UK singles chart battle has ended in disappointment.

The British rockers comeback single SPEED OF SOUND fell from second to seventh place, while the Crazy Frog's unique rendition of AXEL F continued to bask in its popularity amongst the UK's mobile phone fixated youth by staying at number one.

Last week (ends 29MAY05), the controversial remake of the BEVERLY HILLS COP movie theme tune by HAROLD FALTERMEYER - which reached number two in the UK 20 years ago (85) - made British chart history by becoming the first ringtone to cross to the mainstream music chart.

Meanwhile, R+B sensation Akon maintaining his extended presence on the chart when his BOBBY VINTON-inspired hit LONELY rose to number two, while animated pop stars Gorillaz rose to number three with Feel Good Inc.

American rockers Foo Fighters grabbed a new entry at number four with BEST OF YOU while R+B beauty Amerie's 1 THING slipped to number five.

Meanwhile, Oasis entered the album chart at number one with their hugely anticipated sixth album DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH, knocking GORILLAZ's DEMON DAYS off the top spot.
