Coldplay infuriated their record label by insisting on re-recording a track - despite the fact they officially finished their forthcoming album X+Y last month (FEB05).

The band's frontman Chris Martin decided the original recording of TALK was unsatisfactory, when EMI RECORDS suggested it as the first single that should be released from the album.

Coldplay have now produced a new version of the track, which features samples from cult German band Kraftwerk.

Martin explains, "It was all going great and then someone said, 'That should be the first single,' and we all just freaked out and scrapped it all. I hate choosing singles, it's so hard.

"We've just mixed it and it sounds great. We've had such a pain getting to that place, I'm not sure to anyone quite knows what to do with it anymore."
