Legendary cricketer Tony Greig has died at the age of 66.

The former England captain, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in October (12), passed away on Saturday (29Dec12) after suffering a heart attack in Sydney, Australia.

Greig scored 3,599 runs in his career and played in 58 test matches - and sports-loving celebrities have flocked to Twitter.com to pay their respects.

CNN newsman Piers Morgan declared, "Very sad to hear about Tony Greig. Great cricketer, great guy. Rip", while Elizabeth Hurley's cricketer fiance Shane Warne reminisced about his memories of the sports star.

He added, "What terrible & sad news about the passing of Tong Greig, he was a wonderful man & a good friend, my heart goes out to all his family Rip! Tony did so much for the game of cricket & always stood up for what he believed in & had the game of cricket at heart, we will all miss him. Don't forget as well as a wonderful commentator he was also a great cricketer... Rip my friend & all my love to your family."
