Is Bill Cosby dead? For the final time, no! The 73-year-old comedy legend is alive and well, despite reports on Twitter suggesting he had passed away, again. The speculation began on Facebook when one user created a group called "R.I.P Bill Cosby ', which quickly garnered 315,000 likes.
After the rumors began gathering pace on Twitter, Cosby was forced to use the micro-blogging site to prove he was alive, tweeting a picture of him in character as Cliff Huxtable and saying, "I've never met anyone who didn't like this one!". He did not directly address the hoax, though fans got the message. The Facebook user who began the group was eventually forced to come clean, saying, "My name is Jonathan Gorman and I am the page admin/creator. With the recent slowdown of likes and high amount of attention from news sources.I have come to the conclusion that I should tell you all the truth. Bill Cosby is not deceased.I made around 315 Thousand people angry". Before signing off, Gorman wrote, "I love you all for making me laugh at your stupidity for the past day and a half. You're great".
Cosby is no strange to Internet death hoaxes - in 2010, he confirmed to CNN that he had been declared dead four times, saying, "I don't want [the person who spread the rumor] to do this anymore, because this is my fourth time being reported [dead.Maybe a psychiatrist will say I'm feeding [the originator's] ego, but I just want to say to friends of that person: Just tell him to stop, because it isn't funny". Oh, and for everyone that read Rihanna was dead over the weekend: she's alive and well too.
